Video: The Rock.

I’m using these cold, dark months when boat is out of the water and I can only surf for an hour before freezing to death, to work on a new project. Here is my favorite, and only, section so far — Over email, Suzie Gaugler, owner of the Blue Marlin in #Montauk from 1970-1998, looks back at the time a ‘friend' tried to screw up business by placing a boulder in front of the door of the restaurant. Hello Emily,

Oh My God. The ROCK! A friend of Franks thought it would be a great giggle to move a boulder by the front door of the Blue Marlin. Screw up business for a while. Well, after the shock of seeing it there, we realized it did NOT prohibit entering, though one had to do so sideways. We proceeded to paint it appropriately for every Holiday. It was the best PR gimmick one could dream up, it was a gold mine! We did say, the first time someone adds any profanity — rock goes. Needless to say, it happened. Yeah, things COULD get a little stagnant at times in Montauk and if a rock could liven things up, so be it. Where it resides now, I forgot.
