Joni Sternbach

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of being photographed by Joni Sternbach on the beach at Ditch Plains, Montauk. Sternbach uses early photographic processes - 8 x10" unique tintypes - to create contemporary landscapes and seascapes, and processes the plates on the beach out of the back of her car. I interviewed Joni for issue 1 of The Usual and have always loved the look on everyones faces. Well it turns out it's because all her subjects are so nervous that they are going to blink when she takes the photo.
